My mother often told me: “Be a light for others.” Those words have stayed with me like a compass. I grew up in a small town wrapped in forests and fields. From my earliest memories, I loved being outside — walking our dogs, watching squirrels dart up pine trees, sitting by the river with my notebook. Animals don’t pretend.
